A Short Film by Jared Voss

Synopsis

With his world collapsing around him, Jay, an emotionally reclusive bartender, is bombarded by traumatic flashbacks that propel him into a pit of despair. As a child, he exhibited an innate musical talent, which his adoring mother encouraged while shielding him from his abusive father. But when his father’s violence finally drove his mother away, Jay was left vulnerable, and his father’s strict anti-art philosophy forced him to bury all creative pursuits.

Now, haunted by memories of his tortured childhood and pushed to the edge by a breakup with his fiancée, Jay numbs his pain and quells his panic attacks with drugs, alcohol, and sex. When events force him to acknowledge that he is on the verge of destroying himself completely, he must make the hardest decision of his life—plunge completely into the abyss or face the demons of his past and take control of his future.

This dark yet hopeful short film tells the story of a broken man’s psychological journey to reclaim the lost dreams of his lost childhood.
